According to Aart Beekman, (holland - nr 266), Puig Major can only be climbed partly. The end is a military road completely forbidden. Have you the same information. What kind of interdiction is it ? What are the heights of the real top reachable ?

The military road up to 1400m is closed -- VERY closed! There are double very high fences with guards in between -- sort of reminiscent of the border between East and West Berlin prior to 1990 -- no way to get around there!
(Begging reportedly does not work either, so just forget about this climb -- anyway it's nice to the tunnel.) /Jerry

At least once a year you can climb with the "Trencagarrons". Look at: http://www.trencagarrons.com
Some body told me you can ask for a permision to the Army.

Thank you.
For the moment, I've stopped the profile before the forbidden road.

Ok, nice! Did not know. I read somewhere that they had asked for permission but did not gave it (and I think several people have said similar things, but trying won't hurt I guess -- unless it was the kind of day as when I was there -- 6°Celcius and a hard wind ... then it would be cruel to let me pass by up there. I thought they probably let me go if I had asked just to make me suffer for it! Shocked

So, this means that it is OK to claim the climb as long as you have ridden the part that is shown in one of the profiles, i.e. you do not have to go all the way to 1445 m.a.s., right?

bonjour
