PostSubject: Norwegian "one-way" BIGs   Sun Jan 02, 2011 10:22 pm

I have a question: why is it so that some Norwegian BIGs have only one way to the top listed in the site, examples:
http://www.challenge-big.eu/pl/big/30
http://www.challenge-big.eu/pl/big/27
while it seems from the map that there is an accissible road from both sides so they are no dead ends? Rolling Eyes

Can I "count" it, when I climb the BIG from the other, non-listed side? How should I mark it when I claim such a BIG?

Explanation: I've never been in Norway, I only plan to go there this year so I'd like to be able to claim a BIG when I've climbed it Smile

Regards,
aard

Perhaps one side is more spectacular than the other but I would claim anyway from any side. If you plan to visit Norway don't forget to have a look at this map http://kart.statkart.no/adaptive2/default.aspx?gui=1&lang=2
it is a very detailed topographic map of whole country with all gravel roads included. Very helpfull if you want to see more than only main roads. You can also easy guess gradients (inclinations) and decide which chainrings to take.

Yes, you're right, Michal : the other sides are flat plateau areas, without real slope or difference of level.
Thank you for the link to the topographic map, it's a very good one !
Dan.

Thank you very much, Michal and Daniel. The map is fantastic!
As for the plateaux, I will have to search for a route more closely and decide, which BIG to climb from which side Smile
