PostSubject: CHANGES 2009 - 2 : CRET DE CHALAM   Fri Dec 04, 2009 1:45 pm

The Crêt de Chalam is well surfaced until Borne du Lion. Afterwards, it's a gravelled track and the last km is impossible to ride on a bike (see picture)
Le Crêt de Chalam est très bien revêtu jusqu'à la Borne du Lion. Après, c'est un muletier qui devient pour le dernier kilomètre absolument inaccessible en vélo (voyez la photo).

The east-southern side offers terrible and good slopes on a perfectly surfaced road. It ends in the place called "Avalanches Circus". We can stop this climb in La Borne du Lion, if we keep the west-northern side, or in Les Avalanches if we keep the east-southern side.
See/Voyez Cirque des Avalanches http://cycols.free.fr/index.php/2007/12/31/cirque-des-avalanches-et-col-du-merle/.
And the map with the impressive amount of altitude curves / et la carte avec l'impressionnant amoncellement de courbes d'altitude

Before voting, it would be helpful to have the data of the climbs from la Borne and Chamfromier.

If you go to
http://www.challenge-big.eu/list/239-.htm#
click on profiles, you'll see the first one with steep slopes until 1197m, that means "Les Avalanches" section with 5,4/8/11,6/13,4/16/10,8/12/8,8/12,2/9,2/ %.(each 500m)
Afterwards, the section between 1197m and 1293m, it's an 8km gravelled road to La Borne au Lion, with 3,6/-1,8/-1,4/-1,4/-3/-0,8/4,4/5/7,4/9,2/6/2,2/-3,6/-1,6/1,8/-3,2 %(each 500m)
The other profile below shows the other side directly going to La Borne au Lion with 8/5,8/5,4/4,8/4/9,4/2,4/7/5,4/5/7/2,6/9,2/4/5,4/10,4/-1,6/2,4/-2,4/-8,2/-1,4/7,2/7,6/6,6/5,6/5,8/9,8/0,8/10,8/3,4/1,2/3,8/1/3,4/-2,4/0/4,4/8,4/5,2/4,2/4,4/-1,6/-0,4/0,2 %(each 500m)
Note that the upper section from 1293m to 1545m with 20% gravelled and badly gravelled section, I just deleted them a few days ago, because I'm not sure of the track used to reach the top and they weren't right gradients.
