PostSubject: Passo del Morredero   Thu Jan 17, 2008 11:12 am

I'm busy for the moment with the spanish profiles.
I've a problem with Morredero. The roadsign shows a top with 1761m.
Both sides profiles are igher than 1800m and even 1900m.
Don't fetch in www.salite.ch : their profiles come from the BIG and the spanish BIG's profiles come from the excellent work of Mario Ruiz-Opitz.
But there is here a problem. Have the two sides a different top with different heights ? What is the correct altitude of the top and the feet ?
Thanks in advance for any information ?

Now, the question is simple :

Do we keep the Morredero (winter resort) with 1761m
Do we take the Portillinos (pass) with 1957m (everything is surfaced)

Or do we take the name Morredero (better known) with the height of the Portillinos ?

If it seems obvious, I'll change it immediately ! If not, I give the hand to our committee's section : "judges of the list".

Acording to that: http://www.altimetrias.net/aspbk/verPuerto.asp?id=275, I think is better Morredero-Portillinos.

I also think it should be called Morredero-Portinillos. The name Morredero because it is a well-known port (recently La Vuelta is reached) . The name Portinillos should also be present because it is the true top of the port ...
This is an interesting post! bounce

For the moment, we have three persons (on 6 maximum), judges of the list, who decide in a common agreement the changes of names and of BIGs. If a spanish wants, there is a free place there for one spanish ! :-).
Michal Ksiazkiewicz, the polish guy, made yesterday the following remark about Morredero-Portillinos because they'll decide soon about this name : "The name on the profile from both sides is "Llano de las Ovejas" as the highest point !
What now ? "

It may be that the highest point is called "Llano de las Ovejas".But certainly, this port is best known as Morredero. Furthermore, I suppose that in maps the name proposed must be Morredero.
